The Other Side of Ego

The Other Side of Ego

Ego is an impediment for a leader, wise man, merchant or a servant, but it is a necessity for a warrior, a competitor. A warrior is one who takes on challenges and commitment and stands by it. Ego makes one sacrifice oneself for a cause. Ego gives strength and courage, brings valour to meet the challenges with endurance and perseverance. A strong ego will counteract depression. Often ego is thought to be selfish but it is the greatest motivating factor for creativity and generosity. Ego propels one to venture into the unknown. There are 3 types of ego - Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic. Tamasic ego is barbaric and blind, and has self-destructive tendencies. Rajasic ego is self-centered and causes misery to oneself and others. Sattvic ego is creative and has protective tendencies. If you cannot surrender, at least have a Sattvic ego, as a Sattivic ego is always ready to sacrifice.
Bhanu: This is very good! It gives many people a relief. (laughter!)

Why repeat Happiness program

Q: Guruji, why is it important to repeat the Happiness Program time and again?

SRI SRI : During any of our courses, what is visible is not the motive. On a subtle level, within your consciousness, there is a change related to those processes, those stories, those Knowledge Points and that is the reason you feel a change within your 'Self' after the course.

Just like in one of the process, sharing your Life Story is not the objective but what is happening actually is that you feel some lightness within. You get rid of deep life impressions that bother you. Similarly, there is something important related to each and every process, story and even your homework. The more you give into each, the more you get out of it.

Now what many of you think is - "Why go again and repeat all that we have gone through?", "We know what is being taught during the course", "We've already learnt Sudarshan Kriya and continue with our daily practice, then what's the point in repeating" and all such concept blemishes our intellect. I tell you, every time you repeat the course you'd find it absolutely new. Always! How many of the repeaters have had this experience? (Many in the audience raise their hands) It's not just YOU but the other participants as well because of whom you complete the course and every time there is a new lot of participants which means it's all NEW level of Happiness.

Your experiences of Sudarshan Kriya get more deep everytime you repeat the course because everytime you come, you learn about the small mistakes that you make. Ujjayi Breath still is a challenge for many and there are people who are not able to follow the Sudarshan Kriya Rhythm. Specially the faster circles. They are on their own breathing as fast as possible. NO! Follow the Mantra - 'Sohum' precisely. It is very important. Your practice gets more towards perfection when you are corrected for your mistakes.

Similarly, many of you don't even remember how many layers are we all living on. Knowing and remembering about yourself is the most important aspect of our life else what's the difference between you and a robot?

The Golden Keys shared with you during the course are the most precious as they are the crux of your life applicable in any situation, but at the same time they need repetitive hammering because once you are done with the course, over time, you start getting stained back in your normal life.

I suggest you all, including the teachers, keep repeating the Happiness Program at least once in SIX months.

Get all the doubts out of your mind and just come and sit, I'll be there to welcome you. Have this faith!

5 Types of Sewa

5 Types of Sewa

1st type of Sewa is done when you do not even know that you are doing it. You do not recognise it is as Sewa because it is your very nature- You can not help doing it.

2nd type of Sewa is the Sewa you do because it is needed for the situation.

3rd type of Sewa is done because it gives you joy.

4th type of Sewa is done out of your desire for merit- You do sewa expecting some benefit in future.

5th type of Sewa is when you do sewa to show it off , to improve your image and to gain social and political recognition. Such Sewa is simply exhausting whereas the 1st Sewa does not bring any tiredness at all.

To improve the quality of your Sewa, regardless of where you start , you must move to the higher levels.

Negativity needs an anchor

NEGATIVITY NEEDS AN ANCHOR

Negativity cannot remain without a support.

Positivity, happiness can be without any reason.

The mind goes on trying to find support for its negativity. It looks for a hook to hang its negativity on - if not this person, then that thing or that person and so on.

This perpetuates the maya!

The creeper of negativity needs a support in order to grow. But negativity or aversion for even one person can guarantee a one-way ticket to hell - you need nothing else!

All negativity is a pointer to move to the centre and broaden the vision to the cosmic intelligence.

Instead of focussing your attention on support for your negativity, look at the seed of negativity.

With meditation, silence, kriya, the source of negativity is nipped at the root.

meaning of Panduranga Vitthala

Q: What is the meaning of  Panduranga Vitthala?

*Sri Sri Ravi Shankar* :
Pandu is the five elements. The whole world is color of the five elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Space. This world, which is made up of the elements, is a stage. The person who is dancing on this stage is Pandu. The one who is still, non-moving is Vitthala. ‘Thal’ means that which is changing and which moves. Atal or Vitthal means that is specially still. Your body is Panduranga. It is made up of the five elements. The soul (atma) is Vitthala.
Vitthala, the word, means the one who is still. The one who does not move, but moves others. The one who is still. And the one who is the base or root. This is called Vithhala.

New Cancer Research and Research Summary of Sudarshan Kriya

New Cancer Research and Research Summary of Sudarshan Kriya

New Cancer research and research summary Sudarshan Kriya

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins :
. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime.
3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc. 7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy… Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
WHAT CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties.
Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.
Please see these files for a summary of current research findings on the Art of Living practices:
In a fast paced age where stress and depression are widespread, the toll of stress on physical and mental health can be extremely high. Stress, anxiety and depression are known to be significant factors in the onset and progression of a wide spectrum of illnesses ranging from cancer and HIV-1 infection, to asthma and cardiovascular disease.
Sudarshan Kriya® and its accompanying practices (SK&P) are time-honored stress management/health promotion techniques whose health benefits are being validated by modern medical science.
Independent research has shown that SK&P significantly:
Reduce levels of stress (reduce cortisol – the “stress” hormone)
Support the immune system
Reduce cholesterol
Relieve anxiety and depression (mild, moderate and severe)
Increase anti-oxidant protection
Enhance brain function (increased mental focus, calmness and recovery from stressful stimuli)
Enhance well-being and peace of mind
These simple, yet powerful breathing practices have a unique advantage over many other forms of treatment: they are free from unwanted side-effects, can cut health care costs, and are easy to learn and practice in daily life.
The Art of Living International Research and Health Promotion Center aims to promote timely and scholarly investigation of the SK&P as they relate to physical, social, and emotional well-being. We welcome research collaborations and suggestions from interested parties.
